Content Description

Summary (English)This manuscript, known as Ilan Dikduk ha-Torah (Tree of the Grammar of the Torah), the creation of the kabbalist, cantor, and scribe R. Natan Neta Hammerschlag, is a kabbalistic diagram inscribed on a single parchment sheet, presenting a unique diagrammatic visualization that maps the rules of Hebrew grammar and biblical linguistics (letters, vowel points, and cantillation marks) while integrating them with kabbalistic concepts. This manuscript stands as an extraordinary witness to the expansion of the ilanot genre beyond classical cosmological mapping toward a visual-structural representation of the sacred language and the mechanics of the letters.
